2021 NFL Mock (Post Week 17)

The first 18 are locked in! It's like Christmas time.

1) Jaguars- QB Trevor Lawrence- Clemson

Only question left is who will be their Head Coach and GM and who will they select with their excess picks to surround Lawrence.

2) Jets- QB Justin Fields- Ohio State

People have had their questions about Fields the last few weeks, and while some concerns still linger, it's hard to not be impressed by a 6 TD performance in the Final Four. Whoever the new coach is will be happy that they have more to work with in Fields than the current Darnold.

3) Dolphins (HOU)- OT Penei Sewell- Oregon

Tua has had his issues with taking shots down the field and getting sacked too much. Sewell provides more protection and time for the play to develop. Helping your young QB should be priority number one for any franchise.

4) Falcons- CB Patrick Surtain II- Alabama

This pick comes down to Surtain II or Micah Parsons, and it's hard to go wrong with either for the Falcons. It all came down to the fact that the Falcons already have Deion Jones, who is more than capable of being MLB1, whereas current rookie AJ Terrell doesn't instill the same confidence as a CB1. Surtain II fits the bill.

5) Bengals- OT Rashawn Slater- Northwestern

There are a ton of intriguing prospects sitting here on the board, but the Bengals don't have much of a choice after watching their franchise QB go down with an injury because of his lack of blocking on the OL. As I said earlier with the Dolphins, you just have to support your young QB, and protection is the easiest way to do that.

6) Eagles- WR Ja'Marr Chase- LSU

Whoever the QB ends up being for the Eagles next year, they need to have someone to throw it to. The current lineup just won't do Chase put up video game numbers at LSU.

7) Lions- LB Micah Parsons- Penn State

If Parsons does end up falling this far, the Lions will sprint to the podium. Whoever their next coach ends up being, you can't hate having a LB who can cover, rush the passer, and stuff the run. Perfect fit here as far as team needs go.

8) Panthers- QB Zach Wilson- BYU

This is Joe Brady's wet dream. After working with the raw traits of Joe Burrow at LSU, he'll have another project with Wilson. An absolute cannon of arm and mobility are more than Teddy Bridgewater can claim to have. Wilson can take all the weapons the Panthers have and maximize them.

9) Broncos- CB Caleb Farley- Virginia Tech

This has been the need for the Broncos for the last two years for me. The Broncos snipe Farley away from the Cowboys one pick ahead.

10) Cowboys- TE Kyle Pitts- Florida

This offense was extremely hyped all year, but never met its full potential with the injury to Dak Prescott. With the (hopeful) return of Dak, adding yet another weapon on this offense should in theory make them unguardable. But it is the Cowboys, so can't 100% count on the season going the way they plan.

11) Giants- EDGE Kwity Paye- Michigan

The Giants have been lacking a solid pass rush all season. The rest of their defense has been a pleasant surprise, and with this addition could become quite the complete unit.

12) 49ers- QB Trey Lance- North Dakota State

Jimmy G is going to be the QB for the Niners in 2021, according to coach Kyle Shanahan. That's a very interesting choice of words, leading many to speculate that 2021 could also be Jimmy's last season as QB of the 49ers. Lance is full of potential and a year of prep could have him looking like a threat in 2022.

13) Chargers- OT Christian Darrisaw- Virginia Tech

I'm going to stick with my theme here of protecting your young QB. It's the Chargers biggest need and Darrisaw is a great plug and play.

14) Vikings- EDGE Gregory Rosseau- Miami

The lack of Everson Griffin has been noticed this year and they need another player of high caliber to play DE in their defense. Danielle Hunter is aging as well, and the youth of Rosseau will spark their pass rush.

15) Patriots- QB Mac Jones- Alabama

A Saban disciple being handed off to Belichick? That sounds like too good to be true for the Patriots, and Jones' emergence this year makes for the perfect player-coach fit.

16) Cardinals- WR Devonta Smith- Alabama

An absolute steal for the Cardinals, and I had to double take my rankings to make sure this was possible. The combination of Hopkins and Smith has the potential to become the best duo in the game, and that's saying something.

17) Raiders- iDL Christian Barmore- Alabama

Hankins and Collins are both free agents and there is not much on the Raiders roster left in terms of interior defensive line. Gruden and Mayock have been notorious for targeting players from colleges of notoriety. Alabama is pretty historic.

18) Dolphins- LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah- Notre Dame

Owusu-Koramoah is an ultimate swiss army knife. Listed as LB, there has been talk of moving him to S due to his slight size. He also guards the slot, and can blitz with blaring quickness. Brian Flores will love his versatility.

19) Football Team- WR Jaylen Waddle- Alabama

Terry McClaurin needs a running mate. Waddle will be that and more, and provide this offense with some much needed explosion. The defense for the Football Team is already playing at a great level, and this will help the offense keep up.

20) Bears- OT Alex Leatherwood- Alabama

The Bears have quite a few players under contract for next year at OL, the problem is fitting the pieces together. Leatherwood has played all over the line for Alabama, and that versatility is necessary when deciding where to put who.

21) Jaguars (LAR)- CB Jaycee Horn- South Carolina

The Jaguars could go a few different ways here, and for once I'm going to not go with automatically draft an OL when you have a young QB. The Jaguars have a few nice pieces on defense, they just need to fill in the rest. Horn is a great start and gives the Jags one of the youngest, brighest CB duos in the game with CJ Henderson on the other side.

22) Colts- OT Sam Cosmi- Texas

Anthony Castanzo is a huge question mark and is getting to the end of the NFL age spectrum. The offensive line has clearly been priority for the Colts and with one of the pieces potentially going down, it'll be their gut instinct to immediately fix it.

23) Browns- S Jevon Holland- Oregon

The talent on the defensive side of the ball for the Browns is undeniable. They just need to stay healthy and build some chemistry, as their entire secondary starters are poised to be 3rd year or younger and were all picked in the first two rounds of the draft.

24) Titans- WR Rondale Moore- Purdue

Corey Davis is set to hit free agency and has made his price tag pretty high with a very productive season. If they can bring him back, great. If not, Moore would provide an explosion on the other side of the field to match that of AJ Brown's. With those weapons on the outside, it's going to be hard to load the box against Derrick Henry. Pick your poison.

25) Bucs- iDL Marvin Wilson- Florida State

Had Wilson entered the draft last year, he likely would have been a first round pick. But he decided to return to school, only to opt out when COVID-19 hit. Teams will start to remember the name after the combine, as his athleticism should lead the class of interior defensive linemen.

26) Ravens- iOL Creed Humphrey- Oklahoma

The interior line for the Ravens has been the obvious weakness all season. It has limited the run game and the time for LamJax to throw. Humphrey is a guy that will likely have a captain patch slapped on his jersey in a few years.

27) Jets (SEA)- LB Dylan Moses- Alabama

The Jets could upgrade at virtually every position. But the worst of the crap for the Jets this year has been the linebackers, which isn't surprising consider starting MLB CJ Mosley opted out due to COVID-19. This will have the Jets sitting with two former Alabama middle linebackers to start next year.

28) Steelers- OT Liam Eichenburg- Notre Dame

With three of the current five starting offensive linemen about to hit free agency, it's clear that an infusion of both youth and talent is needed on the OL.

29) Saints- CB Shaun Wade- Ohio State

The Saints are cap strapped, QB-less and could have both of their coordinators poached to other team's HC jobs. Marshon Lattimore is also a free agent. A lot of cards left to fall for the Saints, but Wade provides more upside than any other prospect at this point.

30) Bills- iOL Alijah Vera-Tucker- USC

As with the Steelers, the Bills have more than half of their OL hitting free agency. They need bodies, and Vera-Tucker can play any position on the line outside of center.

31) Packers- WR Rashod Bateman- Minnesota

This will be the year that the Packers finally listen to me and draft a threat across from Davante Adams. Adams is the best WR in the game, and that brings all the coverage with it. Having someone with the talent of Bateman to work against less coverage should be Rodger's favorite option.

32) Chiefs- CB Derion Kendrick- Clemson

Teams that are playing the Chiefs are likely playing from behind, meaning that they'll be trying to throw to make big plays. A sticky, man-to-man CB like Kendrick will make throwing to keep up a lot more difficult.
